Hello friends,

We all met Just two years back. Unknown to each other. As only few days left of our MBA, golden time and our academic life is coming to end..we'll miss all the things be it Campus, study and time or comments we passed together...I have written one poem and tried to express all those feelings or say our journey of MBA through it...I dedicate this poem to all my friends and batch mates...Wishing You A bright future Ahead…God Bless u all…Take care...

My Poem:

With heavy heart we have to leave that path

The path which direction we’ll never get again

The path which is full of our loss and gain

The memories directly touch our heart but

With heavy heart we have to leave that path

The path which was totally unknown for us

Never thought it becomes part of our emotions

The footfalls of path makes our memory dark but

With heavy heart we have to leave that path

The days and moments we had, never comes back

By thinking of that it leaves sweetest smile on our face

If I got one wish to grant, I wish to be back on that path but

With heavy heart we have to leave that path

The memories of this path always brings pleasant smile

But it’s not an end it is the beginning of new miles,

We don’t want, But to welcome sun rise of new miles

I was lucky enough to attend the first day of the event. Having been in touch with many students of current batch , I knew how much hard work they were doing to make this event successful once again. On the first day of Protsahan During my interaction with them I could see the satisfaction and happiness on their faces as the event received huge participation from number of b-schools across India.

With your enthusiasm you have definitely taken Protsahan to the new heights. I wish all a great luck for future endeavors.

POST PROTSAHAN AND PRATIBHA

Finally at November 20-21 we were through with Protsahan and Pratibha 2009-2010. The event was very sucessful with 600 and more participants from students from various B-school and more then 200 teams participating in various events. In Pratibha we had around 19 B-school extending there hands and sending there best SIP reports to present at pratibha which was a good learning for junior students and also for participants to come here and compete at national level. Center for management studies (CMS) Ganpat University won the price for maximum participation and maximum awards were also won by CMS. Moreover other students from IBMR ahmedabad and hubli , Indian Institute of management Ahmedabad, Anand institute of management, L.J college of management etc. Won many prizes. At our inaugural function we had Ms. Jayanti Ravi (IAS) commissioner of Higher education joing us to share her views with us. Her words were really motivating and inspiring. As judges for various events we had many respectable persons from acadamics and corporates. Their valuable views and experience made us learn many things. Each and every person of VMPIM and CMS worked very hard to make this event a successful one and achieved it. Every person who were part of Protsahan and Pratibha to make it such a wonderful and sucessful event hats off to them.

She presented her paper on the theme of Innovative compensation and her paper was titled as Innovative compensation : Cornerstone of Innovative Organizations. There were students & faculty delegates from Jaipur, MS University , Baroda , Vapi, ICFAI University who had presented papers of their areas of interest. Her paper was judged best and she received first prize for the same.

This year, the sixth annual general meeting is scheduled on 12th September, 2009, Saturday, at Sahitya Prishad Bhavan, near Times of India, Ahmedabad. I would request all the students of our batch to turn up in good number. People residing in areas far away from Ahmedabad can also plan their schedule in advance, so that they don't miss out this wonderful opportunity to re-interact with the Alma-mater.

You are going to start a new life with vmpim family which is a real journey of self discovery and trust me : its a different world folks, its the best moments of your life! . The lucky folks at vmpim will be going through studies, reports, projects, quizes , seminars etc . but along with it will come the fresher’s party with lots n lots of fun for you guys.
For our college this line is very true “A student acquires a quarter of his knowledge from his/her lecturer, another quarter from his/her own intelligence, another quarter from college friends, and the last quarter, in course of time, from experience”
I am sure you will learn a lot if you seriously work and take this course seriously and not for the sake of studying. Management is something not about studying but it is about learning, experiencing, discovering, sharing, identifying, observing different things around you.
Some of the few things that you should not forget and must do : Enjoy VMPIM life! Enjoy to the max. lots of events in the campus, parties. Lots of things to do and enjoy with friends….Don’t hesitate to enjoy, you will regret it afterwards when you join the routine world of work!
But along with this don’t forget Time Management. Remember you are sacrificing a lot of things in order to come and study at the vmpim. If you know only “Fun! Fun! Fun!” in vmpim and no “study”, then you are stuck my friend. Grab a few books and read a few articles from time to time.
Coming to this college you definitely achieve a positive experience, not only in gaining the valuable qualifications ,but also meet some wonderful people who remain your friends forever. You began to feel more comfortable after knowing the environment of VMPIM and the professor of VMPIM are very down to the earth they are very helpful and supportive especially when it deals with academics and in other prospective also.

My internship experience was everything I thought that it would be, and more.” "While at first I was unsure of how much 'reporting' I would actually be able to do, I was quickly thrown into the mix just one and the half month at ONGC. I learned almost everything I needed to know about my topic which is to be reporting in my college." "I knew going into the internship that any entertainment position was going to land me a huge amount of busy-work (which it did), but I also knew that it would give me a lot of insight into the industry and some great contacts for the future. I got to work on a more diverse range of stories than what I expected coming into the internship." I was given more guidance from my company guide i.e. “Mr. Rajesh kumar and my college mentor i.e. Ms. Poonam Mam." "I also knew that the experience would push me in ways I couldn't predict because of geography alone."I was grateful for the experience, though, as having a big internship in a big city like Ahmedabad gave me the opportunity to rise to a big challenge."As I am pursuing my MBA in HR so in this duration I came to doing internship in HR was the most eye opening experience. It was the first time I ever seen people to do work as this internship confirmed me that I wanted to work in HR.I saw how HR affects the division in the company. At last but not least that I have learned so much it’s worth it.

One can never deny for the importance of the practical exposure of the problem for its better understanding and greater grip of coming out with an industrially acceptable solution. Being the management students and performing small practical even is in itself an experience of responsibility on our head. The project is certainly the best chance to work in the research field and have practical understanding of research. After a great experience with corporate we will be joining back to college on 6th of July 2009. It was really a nice experience to work with corporate and know the difference between the practical and theoretical knowledge we gain from books. Now when different people were working with different organization we will come to know more and more by sharing our thoughts and experience with each other.

We are very thankful to our college as well as our director Dr. Mahendra Sharma sir for giving us this opportunity and our all faculties for helping and guiding us during our SIP.

Now everyone is busy making report of there work and looking forward to join back college the place that they all are missing a lot.

Juniors to bid farewell to the seniors today

Finally the day has come when the seniors will be saying good bye to their beloved Alma Mater today. The moment will be a mix of emotions and happiness, as on one side students will be happy to move to the corporate world now, and on the other side they will be dearly missing those college days and their friends.

This stage would be the last stage for students to enjoy their life to the fullest. So all the seniors are looking forward to bang at the party. On the other hand, Juniors have been working hard day in and out to make this party a great success. We really appreciate their efforts.

Lastly, I would again like to dedicate these lines to my friends. These lines were once mentioned by our Junior Pooja Jain in one of her previous posts. Today, I again feel like reminding this to all my friends.

Exam fever is on a high..

Science has rightly proved that the presence of students in college is inversely proportional to the load of a submission or tension of exam, the other factors being constant..:)

Such is a scene with students at VMPIM. Be it a research report submission, or be it the exam fever, students have been feeling the heat. On the other hand, the scorching heat of summers is also on a rise.

The university has also declared the final exams date from 27th April, 2009. The mid term exams will commence from Monday, 30th March, 2009.

There is a small change in the Mid semester exams. We have kept it here for your reference.

Every person.............literally every person in his life experiences the feeling which you all feeling right now. The feeling which arises when you realize the truth that you will have to apart from your friends. This unfortunate feeling comes only once in your life time...........that’s when your lovely college days end. Not all of college days are filled with fun n joy but the last days are............This would not be possible without the people whom i call "THE GIFT OF OUR LIFE".I don’t know who gifted us these people.

College teaches lots of many different things.Different people,different behaviors n different trends.we are not thankful to it for teaching us what life is because any other college would have done it.But you should bend on your knees,bow your head,join your arms n thank your college..............for only 1 reason.............its because it brought all of you dear friends together.The ones whom you will remember for the rest of your life.

It all started one day when you come to this college n end when someone says its ur farewell and u realize that our college days will end. A lot of memories.............a lot of sweet memories with all of you. And 2 or 3 years from now the situation will never be the same.............all of you going in different directions to achieve your own goals. Things will change from classroom to offices from mark sheets 2 files n from talks 2 meetings..
No more late night parties no more bumps no more kicking each other and you don't even know when you all will meet again together.................

When the days end you all will feel bad because you are going to leave our college............yeah that was the only time when we truly know the value of our college. We never talked good abt our college in the past years but it is then you will realize what you miss.you miss your friends miss the canteen cool drink n maaza miss the double meaning pranks played on each other miss the "A" certificate movies that you watched miss the bunking of classes miss the copying in internals miss the threats from your faculty for presentations n reports and internal evaluation................miss every single breath of college life.

I wish you all stay together forever. This is the song which will reminds you of people with u and even ur juniors whenever u read it.

5th "P" of Marketing - Party..!!!

It was the full strength of students in marketing class of Sem IV on Wednesday. Guess why!!!!! I think this time I can prove you wrong. It was not a quiz or presentation, but it was the time of celebration. It was party time.

Students have decided to celebrate any of the special occasions amongst the students of the Marketing fraternity of VMPIM. Be it a Birthday, a special occasion, or be it a student getting an appointment letter in any company, Marketing class will celebrate it with great joy and fun.

This initiative will prove to be memorable to all of us after we pass out from the institute.

Dr. Rohit Trivedi undertakes Post doctoral research work with SAARC and AMDISA

It is my great honor to take this huge opportunity to write about Dr. Rohit Trivedi, who is working as Asst. professor at VMPIM. The work done by Dr. Trivedi and his achievements are indeed worth taking pride for our institute. What I am going to discuss now may not be of Interest for any common man, but we being management graduates should learn to appreciate the work done by Dr. Trivedi.

Dr. Trivedi is working as Asst. Professor at VMPIM and his areas of interest are Entrepreneurship, BRM and Marketing Mgmt. As part of the post doctoral research work, Dr. Trivedi has undertaken an international research work in collaboration with SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) and AMDISA (Association for Management Development Institutions of South Asia), under which he will be studying the entrepreneurship intentions and constraints for management students and also the lecturers’ and professors’ inclinement towards Entrepreneurship, for countries like India, Singapore and Malaysia. At this point of time, I cannot resist myself to share with you that Dr. Trivedi is the only Indian to receive this Post Doctoral fellowship. After the two doctors of IIM-A, Dr. Trivedi is the 3^rd academician Entrepreneur from Gujarat, the first from non IIM-A background, and the 7^th from all over India to get such work for the first time during last 10 years, the remaining all being non- Indians.

Adding colors to his achievements, Dr. Trivedi recently crossed another milestone when he won the Best Research Paper and Best Researcher Award in 8th International Entrepreneurship Forum organized by University of Essex, UK and European Commission at MICA, Ahmedabad. Dr. Trivedi won the first prize among 108 researchers from 15 countries worldwide like India, Iran, USA, Russia, SA, China & Pakistan.

Dr. Rohit Trivedi is also working for his upcoming project for Incubator study in China which he will be undertaking probably in 2010. We are indeed very proud to have Dr. Rohit Trivedi associated with our Institute. He is truly a GEM of our Institute. After his joining this institute, we have started understanding the importance of research in the life of a management graduate. He has indeed made a difference to the institute.

We wish him all the best for his overseas tour for his research work.

Protsahan 2009 - A Grand Success

...........and it’s a privilege, proud and glory to me for being a part of it. That was probably the best group of people that I had a chance to work with. And I see that my colleagues were trying their best to keep up the name we have striven to create. It is said that anything worth doing is worth overdoing which certainly applies to our event. All the people of VMPIM, with feeling of pride and enthusiasm over this occasion were very happy on seeing such huge, buoyant, well-behaved crowd who perfectly conveyed their belongings and knowledge. Moreover, I wish to quote that the memories and shadows, longings and fullness of this event will last with us forever.

We had a Dream. And Yes , It didn't allow us to sleep for 1.5 years. We wanted to do this from the day we entered VMPIM. In the last 1 and half year , there was hardly any B-school fest where we have not participated. The Creatures of Our Batch have Participated in bulk everywhere and have won several prizes every where . But We didn't want to stop there because We had a Dream.

The Dream was to take the initiative to organise Inter college Management cum cultural fest at our Campus. The Dream didn't allow us to sleep. We dreamt , we planned and today we are going to act. After the hard work of all the students and faculty members of VMPIM and CMS ( Centre for Management Studies ) , today we are on the verge of creating history at VMPIM.

Protsahan 2009 has got almost 260 registrations from the management institutes like IIM Ahmedabad , B.K.School of Management , IPMG , IIPM, NICM , NR Institute of Business Management (GLS-MBA) , Chimanbhai Patel Institute of Management & Research , L.J.Institute of Management studies , St. Kabir Institute of Professional Studies , S.K. Patel Institute of Management & Computer Studies, LDRP, Anand Institute of Management , Semcom , Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University and many others.

The Work is Half Done. We are looking for a great time in next two days of Our Fest.

It was an atmosphere of rejoice on 20th December, 2008 when students completed their SEM III exams. It was indeed a great time for students as they feel that they have become 75 % MBA. Now comes the real time for all to come together and tie our hands together for a gala event PROTSAHAN 2009.

Lets start the journey by knowing what lies in the roots of PROTSAHAN.

The very basic motive of organizing PROTSAHAN is to allow students to come up with the creativity and imagination and to give them a real platform to showcase their talent in front of people, which they would have never done in their past. This is true from both sides .. i.e. You can be a part of organizing committee and show your talent, or you can be a participant of PROTSAHAN and you can showcase you talent.

It was our long lasting dream since the day we entered into VMPIM. We believed that we could make a difference to the institute. The day we started working for PROTSAHAN seriously was somewhere around beginning of July, as soon as the third semester started. Today we are happy to share with you that we are on the verge of creating history at VMPIM. This festival will last for two long days and we are going to invite students from all over India to take part in the gala event.

Students will come up with various ideas and they are all set to work for the event. Now its high time for you all to pray to the Almighty that the event will be a great success. New HR initiatives at VMPIM

Right from the first year of the the new HR course at VMPIM, the students have initiated various activities, under the guidance of Prof. Shital Badshah and Ms. Poonam Chhaniwal.

Here are the details of some activities.

Article discussion/ Group Discussion:
The main objective of the activity is to improve the communication skill of students. The students are given the latest articles on HR issues and latest trends in HR, prior to the discussion date. These articles are collected from renowned HR books, journals, magazines and news papers.

Industrial visits/ Seminars:
To complement the theoretical knowledge with the practical learning, Industrial visits are frequently arranged with a view to discuss the HR issues with the HR managers and executives. Uptil this date, HR students have visited various renowned companies like the Mother dairy and Ratnamani Metals and tubes Pvt. Ltd.

Celebrations at VMPIM:
This activity is initiated with the objective to add the joy and celebration in the life of students and faculty members, by celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and date of joining the institute.

All these activities are managed by group of students Janvi Mehta, Poonam Kanchani, Varsha Sukhia, Heet Amin, Nidhi Jayswal.

We heartily congratulate the HR people for their excellent initiative. Such activities will help to build the value of our institute. We hope that such trend stays forever at our Institute.

Keeping the tradition alive, students of semester III took part in various events in the inter college management fest organized at S K Patel institute of management SIRAAJ, on 5th and 6th December, 2008.

A group of five students; Purvish Shah, Paras Shah, Amrita Mashar, Manu Singhal and Aarohi trivedi took part in the advertising game. They all successfully made to the semi final rounds of the event. They presented a Business idea on a Chocolate reatil outlet called "Chocolite"

Ms. Goral Patel won the title of Ms. Siraaj 2008. It was indeed a great experience for all to be on the active front. All the students of VMPIM have taken oath that they will be participating in all the events that would be organized by various colleges. This will help us to make a good rapport with the colleagues from other colleges.

Truly an MBA experience!!

As we have already mentioned in the tag-line of our blog, we at VMPIM always believe in doing things in a different way, the educational tour was also such a kind of experience for the students of Sem III - general MBA.

We visited two companies in Jodhpur during our two day tour. We feel very glad to share that this time the tour was a superb experience in itself. We not only gained the pleasure of visiting the companies, but we also learned exactly what an MBA student is suppose to learn. It was indeed great to meet the Managing director of the Somi Conveyor belting company, Mr. Kirit Bhansali of the Om Bhansali group.

As I have already mentioned in one previous article in this blog, I would like to once again share with you that there is a phase of transformation going at VMPIM. It is a matter of pride, honor and glory for all of us to share that this time the Om Bhansali group has offered 5 placements to our Institute. This was declared by the MD of Somi conveyor belting company while he was interacting with the students during the visit to his company.

Again the credit goes to our learned professors who have been taking pains since a long to organize such a good event for us. We are heartily thankful to Dr. Rohit Trivedi, Ms. Manisha trivedi, Mr. Abhishek Parikh, Mr. Jayesh Patel, Miss harsha Jariwala and Mr. Hiren sir to accompany us for the tour and to help us interact with the industry professionals. This was all possible because of the wonderful arrangements made by our beloved Ujal Mehta sir. We thank him too for his precious time for us.

Sem III educational tour to Jodhpur

This year the students of Sem III are going to visit two companies in Jodhpur as part of the industrial visit programme. The tour is organized on the 27th and 28th November, 2008, when students will be taking visit to the two companies in order to gain real time live experience of the operations in these companies.

First company is Somi conveyer Beltings Ltd. which is a manufacturer and exporter of Rubber Conveyor Belts of all grades for material handling.

The second company is Mec shot blasting equipments Pvt. Ltd. which is involved in manufacturing of air operated shot blasting/peening machines. Both the companies are located in Jodhpur.

Apart from visiting the two places, we will also be going for some sight seeing places in Jodhpur. Students are very much enthusiastic about the educational visit and they had to wait for a long time for this tour.

After the exams are over, its again a tough time for SEM III students this week ahead. Students will be busy with reports and their submissions till Wednesday. They will be pouring day in and out in order to make ends meet.

On Wednesday evening, SEM III students will be going on a two day educational tour to Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Since each of one has a tendency to enjoy in the tour, they will be working on their MRP report before going to tour, so that they can relax and enjoy during the two day long tour.

All the best guys.. After all, now we have learnt how to manage work on time. It is a phase of transformation at VMPIM. Now such situations are not new for VMPIM students. Good luck to all!

It’s been a tough time for students as there are loads of reports to be submitted after Diwali vacation. As well, exams are heading from 17th November, 2008. Now a days students are missing those places in college, where they had been spending their majority of the time while they were bunking the lectures:D..

Following are the details about various committees which will work together to make the event successful. Please Go through it and Register your self for the appropriate commitee.

General Management Committees :

* Mike and stage team
Team members are required to handle each and every minute activities related to the stage and sound system that will be required to conduct all the events simultaneously; arrange the props for the participants; arrange tables, chairs and podium whenever required; etc

* Catering team
Team will be responsible for managing the food service for all the students and participants; judges and all the people who are directly or indirectly related to the event

* Transportation team
The team will be looking after the transportation facility that we will be providing to the judges, chief guests and participants.

* Decoration Team
This team will be solely responsible for decorating the entire college during the event days; ensuring proper layout of the event venues; deciding where to put the banners; where to put the stalls; where to put the sponsors banners; what would be the layout of the stalls and kiosks; etc

* Content and design
The team will be responsible for designing the content and vocabulary for the posters, the website of the event and the brochures and information booklets.

* Media and Promotion
The team members will be responsible for promoting the event on a larger scale, by using various sources like Internet, mobile, etc. People having their goodwill and contacts with the media people would be entertained to be a part of this team...

* Sponsorship
They will be required to work in the fields rigorously in order to get sponsorships, prizes, certificates, trophies, gift hampers, etc. People having their goodwill and contacts with the Media and Corporates would be entertained to be a part of this team

* Invitation and communication
The team will play a very essential role of communicating about the event with the participants of various colleges across India

Inter college management fest to be organized in JANUARY 2009

Looking upon to the convenience of the students, the participants from various colleges and the examination schedule at VMPIM, finally it has been decided that the Inter college Management festival will be organized in the beginning of January 2009.

Looking to the overwhelming response of the students from various B schools, we feel very glad to share that this time the college will also be inviting students from outside Gujarat to participate in various formal and informal events.

“Our aim is to invite maximum number of students from within and outside Gujarat. Thus, early Semester period would be the favorable time for the event” says Dr. Mahendra Sharma, Honorable director of VMPIM.

During the two day long Management fest, there will be various formal Management events and informal events too. We feel very glad to share that the college is taking a crucial step by organizing an event called the “Business Plan Contest”. Such an event will be beneficial for Management students to develop their Entrepreneurship skills.

Pratibha 2008. A new milestone for VMPIM.

V.M. Patel Institute of Management organized VM's Pratibha, a National Level summer project competition on 19th and 20th September, 2008. Our institute crossed a new milestone this year. We got a very good response from students all over India. We had received entries from Mumbai, Pune and Chandigarh as well.

VM's Pratibha, a two day national level seminar was organized at VMPIM on the 19th and 20th September, 2008. Students from various B schools participated in the event and shared their industry experiences with their colleagues.

We invited industry professional to judge the performance of the event. Adding glory to our event, Dr. Rasananda Panda, the associate professor at IPMG gave his service as a judge of the event. The suggestions of Dr. Panda helped the participants to gain fruitful insights in their summer project work.

This time our college crossed one more milestone by organizing the event at a National level. We recieved entries from various B schools outside Gujarat. i.e. Pune, Mumbai and Chandigarh.

Waves 2008

Waves 2008, by way of which the seniors welcome their new batch juniors. Waves was organized on 27th September, 2008. There was an excellent performance by the juniors. Ramp show and fashion show was also performed.
